Three FITS Riders have been selected to ride for the U.S., and five FITS Riders will represent Canada in Kentucky in October. For the United States, they are Kimberly Severson, Becky Holder and Amy Tryon.
For Canada, they are Selena O’Hanlon, Hawley Bennett-Awad, Rebecca Howard, Jessica Phoenix and Diana Burnett.

Gladstone, NJ – September 13, 2010 – Taking advantage of its newly refurbished facility, the United States Equestrian Team Foundation is currently hosting the U.S. Dressage Team as they prepare for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The outstanding group of horse and rider combinations includes Steffen Peters and Ravel; Tina Konyot and Calecto V; Todd Flettrich and Otto; and Katherine Bateson-Chandler and Nartan, along with alternates Catherine Haddad and Winyamaro and Pierre St. Jacques and Lucky Tiger.
All six riders are currently training under the watchful eye of Chef D’Equipe Anne Gribbons. “Anne has been supportive and very helpful,” noted Flettrich. “I’m an independent person so the idea of the team is new for me, but everything has been going great and we’re working together while having a great time.”
Bateson-Chandler added, “I have been looking forward to this part of the WEG journey since I made the team. I love all of my teammates; they have been good friends of mine for years so that’s special for me. I am also really enjoying the training and I am thrilled to be in Gladstone.”

Plans beyond the CHIO Aachen and towards Kentucky (WEG)…
I was back in the saddle very quickly after the birth of my son, Frederik, and I’m feeling really well. My plan is to get in the best shape possible before Kentucky, and it’s encouraging that Satchmo and I have become more and more consistent in our performances as the months have gone by.
I was really pleased with how both horses (Satchmo and Hannes) performed at the Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen, and with a score of more than 75% I feel we can be quite satisfied and happy. However, we have higher expectations over the coming weeks and months, and the plan is to sort out the mistakes and concentrate on the finer details of our programme.
Between now and WEG we will go to the German Championships in Münster and following that the nominations will be announced, so I’m hoping that we can find our best form for that performance. We now know that the Dutch riders are very strong and so is Laura Bechtolsheimer, so we will be hoping to finish closer and closer to Laura and Adelinde (Cornelissen). Edward (Gal) seems to be in a league of his own but the other two riders are definitely within our reach.

Wellington, FL – May 10, 2010 – Based in Coatesville, PA, and Wellington, FL, Todd Flettrich has had a successful dressage career and is well on his way to qualifying for this year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG). Anne Gribbons, a renowned rider and trainer who has known Flettrich since the start of his career, has watched Flettrich as a young rider, has competed with him and against him, and has judged him in competition for years. Now the United States Dressage Team Chef D’Equipe, Gribbons watched Flettrich and his Grand Prix mount Otto very closely this season and thinks that it looks promising for the talented duo to qualify for the U.S. Team that will compete at the WEG in the fall.
Cherry Knoll Farm purchased Otto, a 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Rambo X Rampal), in 2009 and he and Flettrich have since formed an excellent partnership and have earned several top placings throughout the country. Gribbons watched Flettrich and Otto ride in educational clinics put on by the United States Equestrian Federation in the fall and has followed every qualifier for the WEG that the pair has shown in. “I must say that Todd is blessed with a confident and experienced horse that is very ambitious and can do all of the movements very well,” Gribbons noted. “We have lovely horses coming along, but some of them at this point are still green and that is not Todd’s horse, his horse is very competent and confident, so that is great.”

The last month
The last month has been a real rollercoaster with quite a few shows and then the Rolex FEI World Cup Final. Overall, I’m feeling pretty good in myself and I’m trying to get as much rest as possible, but not doing too much isn’t the easiest thing in the world at the moment! I was up at 4am last Wednesday morning to go to Copenhagen for a photo shoot and got back home at about 1am the following morning. I was then up very early to jump five horses ahead of the four-day show in Mannheim, so I haven’t had as much rest as I would have hoped for!
Wellington, FL – April 30, 2010 – Todd Flettrich and Cherry Knoll Farm’s Otto traveled to the Kentucky Horse Park to compete in the 2010 Kentucky Cup CDI*** Dressage Tests, but had a disappointing weekend when Otto showed up not feeling well. On Tuesday, Flettrich rode the Grand Prix test and finished seventh, but Otto did not have his usual brilliance. When Otto still wasn’t feeling well on Wednesday, Flettrich chose to withdraw from the competition, and sent Otto home to Florida to rest.
“We completed the test, but it was definitely not our best,” Flettrich noted. “The nice thing about it was that he really kept on trying for me, but he definitely didn’t feel right. I chose to ride the Grand Prix to prove that he could still do it under difficult circumstances, but I didn’t want people to think that there was something permanently wrong with him.”
