Nomination Program brings nearly $375,000 more to the Derby!
Oklahoma City, Okla. – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Board of Directors recently discussed major changes to the 2012 NRHA Derby (June 25-30 in Oklahoma City, Okla.). These changes and enhancements for 2012 include massive increases in added money due to the NRHA Nomination Program, an increase in the number of Level 4 and Level 3 Non Pro finalists and granting five- and six-year-olds the ability to compete for Nomination Program added money (excluding Nominator Incentives). Oklahoma City, OK – January 5, 2012 – The National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) offers members an online program that rewards youth for leadership and community service activities outside of the show arena. The Varsity Reining Club (VRC) provides scholarships totaling $5,000, to be awarded to the most active participants in two age groups. In its sixth year, VRC will provide 13 youth scholarship monies, with the top-placing individual in each age group receiving special recognition as “Youths of the Year.”
Youth members are awarded points by doing any combination of projects listed at vrc.nrhya.com. Participants can submit activity reports in four subject areas: philanthropy, creativity, publicity and academics. Members aged 14 years and older are placed in the varsity category and members 13 years and under are classified as junior varsity.
Lexington, KY – The dates and location of the 2012 Adequan/FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North have been designated.
The competition will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park from July 18-22, 2012 – the week before the Olympic Games commence in London.
Adequan has returned as the title sponsor of this competition, and makes the dreams of young equestrians (ages 14-21) a reality. It is through the support of Adequan that this event has been able to grow – it now boasts nine FEI Championships.
Dressage, Eventing, Jumping and Reining each offer a championship for Juniors and one for Young Riders. Endurance, which was added in 2011 as a championship, offers an FEI championship for Young Riders.
Geneva (SUI), 13 December 2011 – Rolex has become an official partner of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014. The agreement was signed today, 13 December, in Geneva (SUI), home town to Rolex and venue of the sixth leg of the Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping 2011/2012.
The Swiss luxury watch maker has been involved in equestrian sport since 1957 and is a major force behind many of the sport’s finest events and riders. The brand’s association with the FEI World Equestrian Games dates back to 2002 and Rolex was the official sponsor of last year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky (USA).
FEI Secretary General Ingmar De Vos welcomed the news of the Rolex partnership with Normandy 2014. “The FEI is delighted that Rolex, one of the world’s best brands and a dedicated partner to equestrian sport, has renewed its cooperation with the FEI’s flagship event, the FEI World Equestrian Games,” he said. “Rolex’s loyalty to our sport is exceptional and we are looking forward to the Games in Normandy, which are expected to stage absolutely top-class sport in an area renowned for its connection with the horse.”

Oklahoma City, OK – The 2011 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) $540,000-added Open Futurity finals was held at the NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This year’s riders were mounted on world-class reining horses all aiming for the $150,000 championship purse and their share of NRHA Corporate Partner and Futurity Sponsor awards.
Nomination Program Impact The NRHA Futurity saw a massive increase in added money due to the NRHA Nomination Program. According to NRHA Chief Financial Officer John Foy, with the addition of the North American Nomination Program’s added monies, there was an increase of more than $600,000 in added money with over $420,000 in the NRHA Open Futurity and $180,000 in the Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity. The total purse for just the Futurity is projected to be more than $1.9 million (a 25%+ increase). Nominators are projected to collect almost $100,000 – even if they don’t own the horse!
Lausanne (SUI), 16 November 2011 – A record seven National Federations have sent in formal Expressions of Interest to host the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018.
Signed Expression of Interest documents have been received from the National Federations of Australia, Canada, Hungary, Morocco, Russia, Sweden, and the USA. The deadline for receipt of signed documentation was midnight CET last night, 15 November 2011.
“Having a record seven Expressions of Interest in hosting the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2018 is the best possible endorsement of the FEI’s flagship event,” FEI Secretary General Ingmar de Vos said. “It also shows the value of the review that the FEI has commissioned of the bidding process for the FEI World Equestrian Games and FEI European Championships, which is aimed at raising the profile of these events and their associated revenues by creating a competitive, well-structured and transparent bid process.”
Oklahoma City, OK – The international sport of Reining will host the world’s premier event for reiners – the 2011 NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show November 24 through December 3 at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. This year’s event will be the 25th to be held in Oklahoma City.
It’s the most elite reining event in the world with more than 2,000 entries competing for nearly $2 million in cash and prizes.
