Photo © Cealy Tetley Wellington, FL – July 26, 2011 – G&C Farm and rider Pablo Barrios have continued their summer tour with victory and strong performances at major CSI five star competitions across Europe, including a win at the Global Champions Tour event in Chantilly, France. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington. Barrios piloted G&C Quick Star 11 to the win in the Prix France Galop 1.50m speed class in Chantilly. The pair posted a time of 66.34 seconds for the win over Alvaro de Miranda (BRA) on AD Wilbert Z and Leopold van Asten (NED) with VDL Groep Amelie. This was the second win for the pair on the Global Champions Tour circuit this summer. G&C Quick Star 11 is a 13-year-old KWPN mare by Quick Star x Grannus. “Quick Star has been so solid and consistent this year,” Barrios said. “We are very happy with her and want to keep her strong and ready for the Pan American Games this fall.” Barrios was very pleased to have posted another win at a five star show. “Winning never gets old,” he said with a smile. “Just being at these shows gives me a lot of knowledge and experience. Olympian Pablo Barrios, currently ranked 27th in the world, was a class winner at the Global Champions Tour in Cannes, France and has been in the ribbons at major competitions. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington. Gustavo Mirabal stated, “It has been a fantastic summer tour in Europe for G&C Farm. It is important for us to jump in five-star shows and in the Global Champions Tour. It is the first time ever that a rider from Venezuela has competed at these shows, and we are very proud to represent our country with the fantastic results that we have received so far. It was such a great feeling to hear the national anthem and see the Venezuelan flag raised in Cannes!” In their most recent show in Cannes, G&C Farm posted a victory. Pablo Barrios and G&C Quick Star 11, a 13-year-old KWPN mare by Quick Star x Grannus, won the Prix Generali (1.50m). The class was a qualifier for the grand prix. Barrios and G&C Quick Star 11 returned in the jump-off to go double clear in a speedy time of 36.20 seconds, almost one second faster than the next three competitors. Sydney Masters World-Renown Artist to Paint World-Class Jumper at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival Photos © Mancini Photography 2011 Wellington, FL – March 17, 2011 – Internationally-renowned artist Josée Nadeau will paint world-class jumper, Pablo Barrios, live in front of an audience at The Gallery at The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 7:15 pm. This live painting event was to cap off Nadeau’s three-week exhibition of her Equine Series of oil paintings at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival but she was recently extended through the end of the Festival on April 3, 2011. Nadeau is exhibiting her Equine Series of artwork, detailing everything from the ruggedness of the West to the beauty of English riding equestrian events to the majesty of polo and the speed and power of thoroughbreds. All artwork on display at The Gallery is available for purchase. For this special event Nadeau will transform The Gallery from an exhibition space to a painting studio. Pablo Barrios (VEN) was the winner after he cleared the 7’3″ puissance wall with G&C Quivola, owned by Gustavo Mirabal. The FTI WEF’s eighth week of competition, sponsored by G&C Farm, concludes on Sunday, March 6. The Suncast 1.50m Championship Jumper Series Classic will be held on Sunday followed by the $150,000 Wellington Equestrian Realty Grand Prix, CSIO 4* at 1 p.m. The 2011 WEF will continue through April 3 and award more than $6 million in prize money. The class started with seven entries, and all were clear in the first round. Seventh place went to Andre Thieme (GER) and Aragon Rouet, owned by Stal Hendrix when they faulted in the first jump-off with the wall at 6 feet (1.83 meters). Three riders knocked the blocks off the top of the wall, which was set at 6’6″ (1.95m), in the second jump-off. Shane Sweetnam (IRL) and Traffic Boy, owned by Spy Coast Farm LLC, Aaron Vale (USA) and KAP LLC’s Charmer, and Benjamin Meredith (AUS) with Raylyn Farms Inc.’s Charme Z all tied for fourth place. G&C Farm Starts the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival with Success Wellington, FL – February 2, 2011 – G&C Farm started out the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival with a variety of success, including victory in the $40,000 Surpass Grand Prix, CSI 2* during week 3 for Pablo Barrios and G&C Quick Star 11. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington. Gustavo Mirabal said, “We were extremely pleased with the start of the WEF circuit. All of the horses have been extremely consistent, and we are happy with our younger horses that are stepping up and placing in these competitive classes. Photo © Sportfot Wellington, FL – January 29, 2011 – Pablo Barrios (VEN) and G&C Quick Star 11, owned by G&C Farm of Wellington, FL, captured the top prize in tonight’s $40,000 Surpass Grand Prix, CSI 2*. This was the second event of 11 in the “Saturday Night Lights” series at the 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF). A crowd of 4,700 spectators were there to enjoy top-class show jumping and all that the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center has to offer. The third week of the FTI WEF concludes with tomorrow’s competition. The 2011 FTI Winter Equestrian Festival has 12 weeks of competition through April 3, 2011, and they will be awarding more than $6 million in prize money through the circuit. This week’s course designer in the International Arena is Olaf Petersen Sr. of Germany. There were 41 entries in the grand prix, and 12 were able to keep all of the jumps up to advance to the jump-off. Schuyler Riley described of the course, “The first round was a beautiful course. Photo © Cealy Tetley G&C Farm Wins Two Events at The Royal Horse Show Toronto, ON, Canada – November 17, 2010 – G&C Farm had a very successful week at The Royal Horse Show in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Pablo Barrios competed aboard G&C Farm horses and won two classes. With an incredible string of top finishes this year, Barrios has vaulted into the top 30 riders in the world in the FEI ROLEX World Rankings. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington. As of October 31, Barrios is ranked 30th in the world, and with his top finishes in Toronto, is expected to move up to 22nd in the rankings released next month. It has been an incredible year for Barrios, who started out 10 months ago ranked in the 93rd position. This year was no different as Pablo Barrios (VEN) and G&C Blanchee Z, owned by G&C Farm/Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal, cleared a height of 6’1” for victory. In the $30,000 International Open Jumper 1.50m faults converted class, Kent Farrington (USA) and Up Chiqui raced to the win. Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) scored his third win of the week in the $15,000 International Open Jumper 1.40m faults converted class with Palouchin de Ligny. Karen Polle on What Ever and Tracey Weinberg with Larone were victorious in the Junior and Amateur-Owner Jumper classes this afternoon. The WIHS continues through Sunday, October 31 with the best hunter, jumper, and equitation riders in the nation competing for top prizes at Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C. The highlight class of the week is the $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix presented by Washington Convention and Sports Authority, CSI 3*-W on Saturday, October 30. Lexington, KY – October 13, 2010 – Pablo Barrios and G&C LaGran accomplished their goal of being in the top 30 riders in the world when they made the individual final at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Lexington, KY. Barrios competed through all four individual rounds in the competition on G&C LaGran, owned by Barrios and G&C Farm. Barrios was also part of the Venezuelan team, the first time that the country has fielded a team in the world championships. G&C Farm is based in Wellington, FL, and owned by Gustavo and Carolina Mirabal of Venezuela. Barrios, who competes for Venezuela, is also based in Wellington. Barrios and G&C LaGran started out the WEG with a bang when they finished fourth in the opening individual speed round. Their time of 69.42 seconds was the fastest in the entire class, and with four faults converted for a final time of 73.42 seconds, they finished with a top placing. “We had a very good speed class, the fastest time in the class,” Barrios said. “Unfortunately we had a rail, but it was enough to stay fourth. He’s a very fast horse, and that’s the kind of class that I can win. I went for it, but we were a little short.” |
