“Give a Horse a Chance” (GAHAC) represents a new opportunity for horses traditionally labeled “unwanted” and that have been rescued from the slaughter pipeline. This event will showcase the talent and build the performance ability of these horses that were given a second chance by equine rescue groups and new owners. The 2011 GAHAC is open to horses adopted or purchased between August 30th 2010 and February 1st 2011. Horses may have been adopted or purchased privately from auction houses for $600 or less.
The IPHDA (International Performance Horse Development Association) is organizing the GAHAC competition and will be using their virtual show format. There will be 3 divisions offered: Open, Amateur and Novice.
The exhibitors will be required to perform 2 events. The first will be a PHD test (visit www.iphda.com to download the pattern). The second test will feature any equestrian competition for which the horse shows an aptitude: jumping a course, riding a dressage test, running a barrel pattern, negotiating a series of trail obstacles, completing a reining pattern, performing a Natural Horsemanship game, etc.

IPHDA has added a new way to win award points for personal achievement.
These are IPHDA’s most important awards.
Being competitive is addicting, just ask anyone that’s winning!
By offering exhibitors awards for personal achievements we hope to encourage more wet saddle pads and more entries which allows our members to get valuable tips from our judges and together encourage advanced training and horsemanship skills.
With these awards IPHDA hopes to help all our exhibitors advance to where they are competitive in any equine event, not just PHD.
Personal Achievement Award Points
Personal achievement award points will be based on the scores each exhibitor receives.
For every 5 satisfactory or very good scores (0 or +1/2) that a rider receives he will earn 1 award point.
These points will cumulative as well.
Example: a rider scores a 68 1/2 in a level 2 pattern, the judge evaluated his maneuvers as 5 satisfactory or 0, 5 improvement needed or -1/2, and 2 very good or +1/2, for a total of 7 0s and +1/2s. The rider will earn 1 award point and will earn another award point when they earn 3 more 0s or +1/2s evaluations next show.

The IPHDA Marisita Saddlery PHD Championship show is open for entries. IPHDA members from 3 countries have shown in at least 4 of the 6 Virtual Shows during 2009 to qualify for the finals. The competition is sure to be tough, as all the exhibitors will be showing in a PHD level they have already graduated from during the regular V Shows.
Cash and prizes to be won by the finalists total over $4000.00, with Marisita Saddlery awarding a trophy saddle to one lucky winner.
An international panel of top horsemen will be judging the inaugural IPHDA V show championships, they include:
