Gladstone, NJ – February 6, 2012 – The United States Equestrian Team Foundation is pleased to announce the election of new Trustees Georgina Bloomberg, George Davis, Elizabeth Juliano, Murray Kessler, Lyle Lovett, Misdee Wrigley Miller, MK Pritzker and Philip Richter. The new Trustees were elected to the Board on January 28, 2012 during the USET Foundation’s Annual Meeting. They will aid and assist the USET Foundation in its mission to support the competition, training, coaching, travel and educational needs of America’s elite and developing international, high-performance horses and athletes in partnership with the United States Equestrian Federation.
Georgina Bloomberg of North Salem, NY and Wellington, FL has been competing in Show Jumping at the international level for many years. She has represented the United States at the World Cup Finals and also in Nations Cup competitions. Bloomberg won the Maxine Beard Award in 2004 and she also founded The Rider’s Closet to distribute used clothing and equipment to college equestrian teams and pony clubs.
U.S. Grand Prix jumper, Georgina Bloomberg, has become an author with her first title published this spring, The A Circuit, which tells a fictional story of life on the show jumping circuit. Readers young and not so young will identify with this story; listen in.
Brewster, NY – July 11, 2011 – Equestrian apparel company Ariat recently donated over 600 pairs of new riding breeches to The Rider’s Closet at Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Georgina Bloomberg’s charitable program for riders in need. The Rider’s Closet accepts new or gently used equestrian apparel and sends them to pony clubs, therapeutic riding centers, scholastic teams and individual riders who request show or lesson program clothing and boots.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Ariat for almost five years now,” notes Bloomberg. “I am consistently impressed with not only the products they produce but also with the kindness of those who work with the company. I have really enjoyed representing Ariat and have found their products to be fashionable and functional. This donation is yet another example of their generosity and commitment to help every rider be properly attired for riding.”
Founded by Bloomberg as a home-based operation in August 2006, The Rider’s Closet quickly grew in scope, as did Bloomberg’s equestrian career. In July 2010, she decided to move The Rider’s Closet to a new location where it could operate on a continuous basis while she traveled to competitions. Familiar with its philanthropic mission and services, Bloomberg partnered with local nonprofit Pegasus Therapeutic Riding to bring The Rider’s Closet to Pegasus Farm in Brewster, N.Y. Managed by Pegasus staff and operated by volunteers, The Rider’s Closet is thriving in its new home. Requests come in daily from around the country, and the recent donation from Ariat will have a lasting coast-to-coast impact.
“With Ariat’s help, The Rider’s Closet will be able to send quality breeches to countless riders in need of new clothes,” states Bloomberg. “I am so appreciative of the company and am honored to be an Ariat-sponsored rider.”
Beth Cross, president and CEO of Ariat, echoes Bloomberg’s sentiment. “We are thrilled to team up with Georgina in support of The Rider’s Closet,” notes Cross. “All of us at Ariat are proud to be of service to this terrific organization and look forward to supporting them in the future.”
The Rider’s Closet accepts shirts, breeches, jackets, boots and half chaps. Demand is especially high for paddock boots and tall boots in adult and children’s sizes. For safety reasons, helmets cannot be accepted. Information about donating or requesting items from The Rider’s Closet is posted to the Pegasus website at www.pegasustr.org/trc.

Real Life and Equestrian Experiences of Mayor’s Daughter Inspire The A Circuit; Available Today, May 24, 2011
New York, NY – May 24, 2011 – Today, Georgina Bloomberg, an accomplished professional equestrian, philanthropist and youngest daughter of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, launches The A Circuit (Bloomsbury, original paperback, $9.99), the first in a series of teen novels set within the equestrian world she knows so well. Co-written with Cathy Hapka, Georgina brings an authenticity and flair to the books that will entice as much as they will fascinate. The second novel in the series, entitled My Favorite Mistake, is scheduled to be released in March 2012.
The A Circuit is the A-List meets the elite horse world, capturing the lives of three teenagers, Zara, the wild child of a famous rock star, Kate, a working student serious about riding, and Tommi, a billionaire heiress, as they navigate the life of privilege and competition and figure out how to succeed while being true to themselves. The social drama set within an elite world will have teens flocking to this series.
“The A Circuit captures the pressures and struggles that riders face, and is also a great lesson that working together in any sport can bring different people together,” said Georgina when asked why she decided to write the series.

North Salem, NY – December 14, 2010 – Georgina Bloomberg’s charitable venture, The Rider’s Closet, is in the business of giving and receiving, not just during the holidays, but all year long. From therapeutic riding centers to pony clubs to collegiate equestrian teams, Bloomberg’s apparel exchange program has made a real difference for hundreds of equestrians who want to participate in competitive, scholastic or therapeutic riding but are unable to afford the gear.
Liz Olsezewski, founder of Horses Healing Hearts USA, a nonprofit in Lake Worth, Fla., which works with children of alcoholics and addicts, recently contacted The Rider’s Closet for a shipment of much-needed boots and clothing. After receiving the items, Olsezewski wrote a heartfelt thank-you letter that was signed by her riders. She noted that they “feel like true equestrians now and are feeling very proud.” This sentiment is echoed again and again in riders’ notes of appreciation to Bloomberg and The Rider’s Closet volunteers.

Lexington, KY – August 22, 2010 – It was a beautiful and sunny Kentucky afternoon, for the final day of the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show. Today riders competed for top prizes during the jumper divisions in the new Indoor Ring at the picturesque Kentucky Horse Park. The highlight event of the day was the $30,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix where Georgina Bloomberg and Fiedi 3 stole the show after completing an incredible double clear-effort with a blazing jump-off time of 40.83 seconds.
Today’s class featured a course designed by Richard Jeffery of Bournemouth, England. The first round included an oxer-vertical double combination and a vertical-vertical-oxer triple combination, with numerous bending lines.
Six riders were able to show perfection over the technical first round track and advance to the short course. For the shortened tiebreaker test, they began by jumping a wide oxer in the corner and then made a right turn to the double combination before galloping to the end of the ring to jump a single vertical. Next they made a left turn to another oxer and then had a long gallop to an oxer-vertical bending line. Riders finished by galloping home off the left lead over a tall, single vertical.
Lexington, KY – August 22, 2010 – New York City’s Georgina Bloomberg outdistanced a starting field of eighteen top show jumpers and then went on to race past five other horse rider combinations in the timed jump-off to win Sunday’s $30,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix at the Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.
Riding her 12-year-old Hanoverian, Fiedi 3, Bloomberg was one of only six riders to go clean in the initial round. Then over the shortened, timed jump-off course, Bloomberg raced home with another clear round in a blazing 40.830 seconds to easily seal the Sunday victory. She was nearly a second and a half faster than second place finisher Kent Farrington and Valhalla.
“He jumped great in the first round and I just really tried to go as quick as I could in the jump-off,” said a smiling Bloomberg following the trophy presentation. “He has all the scope in the world, so I knew I could just trust him, I just had to make tight turns and keep him together and hope for that I’d be fast enough to get the win.”
Brewster, New York – May 18, 2010 – Pegasus Therapeutic Riding’s Pegasus Farm chapter announced today that The Rider’s Closet program, developed by Georgina Bloomberg, will now be based out of Pegasus Therapeutic Riding’s Pegasus Farm chapter in Brewster, NY. The program originated four years ago, when Bloomberg wanted to donate her lightly used show clothing to a good cause, but was not sure where to start. The Rider’s Closet began as an endeavor to provide a place where all equestrians could donate their clothing so that other riders who may not be able to purchase their own riding attire and equipment could take advantage of these otherwise expensive items that had been outgrown, but were still in good condition.
Thus far, The Rider’s Closet has already proven to be of great value to a variety of programs, including, but not limited to a number of intercollegiate riding teams. While The Rider’s Closet has been growing, so has Bloomberg’s equestrian career. Over the last few years, the demand has risen, and with Bloomberg traveling to various equestrian competitions around the world, she wanted to move The Rider’s Closet from a home-based operation, to a new home where it could get more attention. “I’m really excited about this move,” said Bloomberg. “It is a great situation for both the Rider’s Closet and the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding program. They have a first class program, one that I’ve been really impressed with over the years. I think the move will benefit a lot of equestrians on a number of different levels.”
