Lausanne (SUI), 8 July 2011 – Adelinde Cornelissen (NED) and the 14-year-old gelding Jerich Parzival have taken over the world number one slot in the Dressage rankings. With 2,578 points, the Dutch combination has moved up to claim the top spot on the FEI World Dressage Riders’ Ranking List. Previously, fellow countryman Edward Gal and the super-stallion Totilas reigned supreme for 19 months from 1 December 2009 to 30 June 2011.
Adelinde and Jerich Parzival are followed in the rankings by British duo Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris on 2,465 points. Ulla Salzgeber (GER) and Herzruf’s Erbe are in third place with 2,200 points.
Thirty-one-year-old Adelinde, who was world number one from 1 September to 30 November 2009, is having an exceptional 2011 season, including victory in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Final in April, the first time in her career that the Dutch rider had claimed the World Cup title.
“I would like to congratulate Adelinde on taking over as world number one,” FEI Dressage Committee Chairman Frank Kemperman commented. “She and Parzival have given some very powerful performances this year and I’m very happy that Adelinde is again in the poll position that she so richly deserves.”
Edward Gal (NED) and Totilas remained as the world’s leading combination after the stallion had been sold to Germany until Totilas had made his first competitive outing with new rider, Matthias Alexander Rath. The new pairing has come in at 165th in the Rankings with 1,108 points to their credit from their four outings last month.

COOL CORNELISSEN AND PLACID PARZIVAL TOP LAST QUALIFIER AT GOTHENBURG
Goteborg (SWE), 27 February 2010 – Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival kept their cool under intense pressure to win the last qualifying leg of the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup Dressage series in Gothenburg, Sweden tonight. Sweden’s Patrik Kittel produced the ride of his life with Watermill Scandic to slot into second place, but the real battle was played out between the Dutch who were vying for the two remaining places on offer to home side contenders at the Final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in The Netherlands in four weeks time.
League leader Edward Gal was clearly always going to make the cut but Cornelissen, Imke Schellekens-Bartels and Anky Van Grunsven knew that tonight would decide which of them would join him. And in this battle of the giants it was winner Cornelissen and third-placed Schellekens-Bartels who earned their stripes while nine-time World Cup champion Van Grunsven just missed out when finishing fourth.
Imke Schellekens-Bartels and Hunter Douglas Sunrise (Ned) made it a back-to-back double of victories in the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup Dressage series when heading the line-up for the second time in seven days at Mechelen in Belgium this evening.
IMKE AND SUNRISE PRODUCE THE MAGIC AGAIN IN MECHELEN
Mechelen (Bel), 27 December 2009 – Dutch rider Imke Schellekens-Bartels made it a back-to-back double of victories in the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup Dressage series when heading the line-up with Hunter Douglas Sunrise at Mechelen in Belgium again this evening. Just seven days ago the same partnership claimed the honours in Frankfurt, and today they were still full of Christmas sparkle when holding multiple-champion Isabell Werth from Germany back in second place with Warum Nicht, while The Netherlands’ Jeannette Haazen and Nartan slotted into third.
This latest result, achieved on only her second outing in the current series, rockets Schellekens-Bartels up to third place on the league table with a total of 40 points and leaves her just one point behind her fellow-countrywoman Adelinde Cornelissen who, despite a disappointing day today, now shares the top-spot with Germany’s Monica Theodorescu on a score of 41.
Schellekens-Bartels knows, however, that she cannot afford to rest on her laurels. “Only three Dutch riders will be allowed to compete in the Final at Den Bosch,” she said this evening, “so we all really have to fight hard for the marks and to take a place at the Final.” Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=9514
