Well it’s almost here again: the most anticipated horse event of the year. Canterbury’s Holiday with Horses program will be December 19th in Newberry, Florida. Gates will open at 5:30 for live music and food with a chance to do a little Christmas shopping from local vendors. (By the way, if you are a vendor call Wendy as the fee is only twenty five dollars instead of fifty!) The performance starts at 7:00PM. This year promises to be an exciting show with a few acts returning due to their popular demand like Tim Lepard and the Ghostriders and some new ones coming in, including The Tricky Dog Show all the way from Naples Florida. Producers Shelley Fraser Mickle and Wendy Low chose a wonderful charity this year called St. Francis House Pet Care Program, a wonderful group of local veterinarians and volunteers that help the local homeless care for their pets. Sponsorships for this event have been sold so each sponsor gets their own “act” and we’ve had no problem getting support from wonderful businesses including: Northwood Oaks and Oaks Veterinary Hospital, Security Safe Company, Porte Reve Horse Transport, Archer Road Self Storage, Alarion Bank, Gainesville Health & Fitness Center, Gradell Farm, Wild Onion Press, the Anfinsen family, the Machen family, the Gonzalez Rothi family, Pomodoro Cafe, Robert Stern, and Gainesville Animal Hospitals East and West. Tickets will be sold at several locations; all Midwest Feed stores, Crevasses Florist at two locations in Gainesville, Ward’s Supermarket, Tractor Supply in Jonesville, Tack Shack in Ocala, and this year you can also order tickets with your credit card and they will be put in will call. Wendy recommends purchasing your tickets in advance as last year the stands were almost full with 800+ seats taken. Adults will be just 15.00 and children 12 and under will be 10.00. Limited VIP seats will be sold at 25.00 each regardless of age. If you missed the ‘08 show you truly do not want to miss this year’s.
