Conyers, GA — Nov 13, 2011 — The 10th Annual Barry Lane Memorial Jumper Classic kicked off the action of the Atlanta Fall Classics at the Georgia International Horse Park. “This is always a personal event to the horse show staff. Barry Lane was not only a great supporter of the Atlanta events, but a dear friend to many of us. We all feel her presence here and hope she’s enjoying this class,” Bob Bell, President of Classic Company, said. This year’s Jumper Classic boasted 59 entries.

The format of the classic was changed this year, Bell explained. “For the past eight years we’ve offered $25,000 in a single classic to the Adult and Children jumpers but rules have changed, so rather than give up our Barry Lane Memorial we ran it as two classes. The first on Saturday evening under the lights of the Olympic arena for $10,000 and the second class on Sunday afternoon prior to the Grand Prix for $15,000. They were both a great success.”

Maurice Beatson and Daniel Geitner Each Take $25,000 in Prix Awards

Conyers, GA — November 21, 2010 — World Equestrian Games competitor Maurice Beatson and his 10-year-old Belgian gelding Apollo Van Evendael are on an extended walk about from their homeland of New Zealand which lead to a victory in the $25,000 EMO Welcome Prix at the Georgia International Horse Park this week.

On Friday, the first of two big $25,000 show jumping events kicked off the final week of competition for the Atlanta Fall Classics with 32 horses from around the world. Maurice Beatson was visiting from New Zealand, by way of their trek south when he captured the top spot, a feat that Beatson was proud of given the relatively short partnership with his mount. “I’ve had him [Apollo] since February and I brought him over to America in the beginning of April. We’ve been campaigning him in California, Colorado, Kentucky, Cleveland, all around the countryside and now we’re working our way down to Florida. He’s been pretty good; we’ve placed in 18 out of 22 so I’m quite pleased with him,” Beatson complimented of his partner.

Course designer Allen Rheinheimer took full advantage of both the former Olympic arena’s massive size and the strong talent in the starting order of go to create an 86 second lengthy 13 fence layout which had a couple of troublesome spots. After crossing vertical #10 riders faced a tricky rollback to vertical #11 and then encountered a “L” turn-bending line into the combination of 12ABC [ oxer in to vertical and oxer out] , this caused more than a few to fault before reaching the final jump, a wide oxer. Ireland’s Darragh Kerins aboard the S&L Farms’ entry S&L Slingback were the first pair to successfully clear the course under the threat of a ticking clock with a time of 78.443. Beatson and Apollo followed and guaranteed a jump off round with their clear time of 78.545. “It was a good course to ride. Tougher than last week and the horses had to be on top today to jump it,” Beatson commented.

Conyers, GA — November 14, 2010 — Classic Company’s Season Finale event, the Atlanta Fall Classics, is a virtual cornucopia of equestrian competition with everything from Zone Championships to a $25,000 Adult-Child Jumper Classic to a show jumping Grand Prix just in the first week. “We always like to end our year big!” Classic Company President Bob Bell quipped.

Friday’s kick off of head to head competition began with the USHJA National Hunter Classic. This event is considered a stepping stone to the regular Hunter Derbies for many and designer Joe Carnicone gave riders a taste of that experience with a layout offering four higher option fences to garnish bonus points. Top scores were invited to return for a handy round in which an overall point total would determine the victor. Round one found Camden, SC favorite Elizabeth Boyd riding the Lee Cesery owned Marquis to an early lead, but the young talents of Marlena Parker and Edie Ringger were right on her coat tails. And when the scores were tallied it was Edie Ringger of Midland, GA with her mount Norway de la Fosse taking the number one position.

Nicholas Dello Joio and Malcolm Triumphant in EMO Grand Prix

Nicholas Dello Joio & Malcolm

Nicholas Dello Joio & Malcolm

Conyers, GA – November 9, 2009 – Nicholas Dello Joio of Wellington, FL provided the crescendo for an action packed first week of the Atlanta Fall Classics by besting some of the nation’s most revered riders in the $25,000 Atlanta Fall Grand Prix, presented by EMO Insurance.

33 took their turn at surviving Rheinheimer’s lengthy 13 fence [16 effort] challenge. Archer, FL resident Jenny Childs with Contharo were the first pair to beat the 92 second limit with a clean 86.210 ride. Following right after, Nicholas Dello Joio of Wellington, FL ensured a jump off round by taking Judy Richter’s entry Malcolm clear in 87.010. “Allen’s been building great courses all week. I wasn’t too worried about the first round thanks to the time allowed. I was planning to go inside to the liverpool at fence 3 and with that time I was able to ride the way I wanted to,” Nicholas Dello Joio began. “Everything was difficult – oxer to oxer [9AB] – he [Allen] got a good number clean so that made it an exciting jump off.” Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=8808
