2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Receives Entries from 60 Countries

May 7, 2010 – LEXINGTON, KY – The World Games 2010 Foundation is pleased to announce that 60 National Federations have submitted entries in principle for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. They are:

FEI to Host Global Congress to Debate NSAID Use in Competition

Lausanne (SUI), 22 April 2010 – The FEI is to host a two-day global Congress to debate the use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs in competition. The FEI Congress on NSAIDs Usage and Medication in the Equine Athlete, which will be held in Lausanne*, Switzerland on August 16/17, will include the presentation of educational and scientific papers as well as open debate.

The vote on the use of NSAIDs in competition will not be taken until the FEI General Assembly in Chinese Taipei (1-6 November), but all interested parties are advised to register for the Congress early to book their places and ensure that their voices are heard in this important debate.

The Congress is open to National Federations and representatives of all stakeholder groups, including vets, officials, Riders Clubs, Organisers, FEI Laboratories, racing and breeding authorities, sponsors, the IOC, as well as the media.

*Venue for the Congress will be confirmed once approximate numbers have been finalised.

Three Candidates Nominated for FEI Presidential Election

2 May 2010 – Nominations for the FEI Presidential election closed at midnight CET yesterday, 1 May 2010, and three candidates have been put forward for the post.

HRH Princess Haya, who was elected to the FEI Presidency in 2006, has declared that she is seeking a second four-year term to take her through to the 2014 General Assembly. The other two candidates are Sven Holmberg (SWE), the FEI’s current First Vice President, and Henk Rottinghuis (NED), who was elected as a member of the FEI Audit and Compliance Committee at the 2009 General Assembly.

The FEI Presidential election will take place at the 2010 FEI General Assembly, which will be held in Chinese Taipei on 5 November. National Federations will vote by secret ballot at the General Assembly.

Battle in the Saddle, owned by Oklahoma State Fair Inc. and managed by AQHA, will be a premier equine competition showcasing five western disciplines.
  • News: The Equine Canada Canadian Reining Committee CRC is inviting proposals from show committees interested in hosting the World Equestrian Games Canadian Reining Committee Selection Finals. All proposals must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. eastern time, on December 18, 2009. Any proposals received after that time will not be considered.
  • News: When the world comes to Kentucky next September, we want to put our greenest foot forward. That’s according to Carol Hanley, director of engagement in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability & the Environment. More…
  • News: Let the games’ merchandising begin: Breyer, modeler of all things small and horsey, has signed on as a sponsor of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Fans of the model horses can look for “Esprit,” commissioned from sculptor Kathleen Moody “to symbolize the spirit of the horses competing in eight different disciplines” at WEG, according to a news release. Distance Riding and Driving Clinic Dec 12-13

Do you like to take long rides in the woods? Camp with your horse? Have you ever thought about trying the sport of distance riding? Join us for a weekend of fun while learning about this exciting activity! We’ll have informative speakers on Saturday, Dinner on Saturday night, followed on Sunday morning with a mock 10 mile competitive ride along the beautiful easements in Caloosa.

CAMP OPENS Friday, Dec 11 at noon. Potluck dinner Fri night (Bring a dish to share and your chair!). Saturday – Registration begins 7:30 am. Speakers begin promptly at 9 am. Dinner at 6 pm.

Sunday – Vet check-in at 8 am, Ride begins at 9:30 am. This is a mock competition; ALL horses must have a pre-ride & post-ride “vet check”.
