In the technological age many turn to the Internet to find information on horses as well as their products and services, but it can be difficult with the amount of sources and the uncertainty of bias in ratings and reviews. A great resource for information on horse breeds has just been released from FindTheBest. This is a great reference on 258 different horse breeds, comparing a number of qualities including breed groups and origins, as well as physical features like size, coat and color. FindTheBest presents the facts in easy to use tables and allows for side-by-side comparisons of different breeds and consumer products so that you can find the best.
This is also a great resource for horse lovers to come, share and exchange information on what they are most passionate about. My youngest sister is 13 years old and has been able to use this site to research some of the horses she has. She is largely interested in the Rodeo style of horseback riding so things like barrel and pole racing as well as various roping events. Each horse is trained and used almost exclusively for that one event. Information on horse breeds can give insight into their success or failures in various rodeo events. This is a call to action for horse lovers to come and connect.

Wellington, FL – December 28, 2011 – Preserving Wellington is a newly focused organization concerned with the preservation and conservation of the gifts nature has provided for the city of Wellington. Their main focus encompasses preserving the character of Wellington’s equestrian community.
Preserving Wellington would like to encourage an open and civil forum via their Facebook Page and Twitter Account. It is important that the citizens within Wellington, as well as those who are seasonal, have a voice when it comes to preserving Wellington and the equestrian community that is its jewel.
To show the community’s support of the equestrian aspects of Wellington, Preserving Wellington is pleased to announce its “Favorite Wellington Equestrian Moment Contest.” Each friend of the Preserving Wellington Facebook Page can submit one photograph of his or her favorite moment. The moment must relate to the equestrian industry in Wellington, FL. Along with each photograph, there must also be a short summary of the memory and why it is meaningful. The winner of the contest will receive a donated $100 Gift Certificate to the Player’s Club Bar and Restaurant located at 13410 South Shore Blvd, Wellington, FL. This contest will run from December 28, 2011 until January 15, 2012. The winner will be announced January 31, 2012.
Wellington, FL – December 6, 2011 – The PagePlay Equestrian Social Media Awards (ESMAs) is now a global affair with finalists representing countries from around the world. The ESMAs were set up in December 2010 as a way of bringing together the global equestrian community through social media. This year, Phelps Media Group International, Inc. President Mason Phelps, Jr. will hold a position on the panel of judges.
The ESMAs were initially created to allow fans and followers of UK and Irish businesses, brands and professionals, to give their feedback and support for who they truly felt flew the flag for the equestrian industry. Last year, during 10 days on the run-up to Christmas Eve, people were asked to nominate their favorites from 15 varying categories, with the top 10 from each category continuing on to the finals. The 181 finalists represented a range of equestrian sports including racing, eventing, western, dressage, and show jumping. With the enormous amount of nominations, just under 4,000, it became apparent that the ESMAs could reach out to an even broader audience.

Ocala, FL (November 4, 2011) – The European equestrian website HorsUs has asked combined driver Chester Weber to join their panel of famous equestrians. Weber will take part in the website’s “Ask It” panel where he will answer questions sent it by fans of the website www.HorsUs.eu. As the eight-time USEF National Four-In-Hand Combined Driving Champion, Weber has a vast amount of experience he will be able to share on the website.
“I am looking forward to seeing the questions that I have to answer,” Weber said. “I know that each member of the panel answers five questions sent in by visitors to the website and I think this is a great way for riders and drivers to get help with specific challenges they may be facing with their own horses.” Australian Combined Driver Boyd Exell, a contemporary of Weber’s, is also part of the “Ask It” panel.
Weber, a highly competitive driver who is known for setting goals and accomplishing them, said he likes the idea of equine enthusiasts getting the chance to get assistance from professionals. “Thanks to websites like HorsUs, the public has access to the best competitors without the need for them to travel to clinics,” Weber said, adding that he enjoys sharing his experience and expertise with others. “I love the sport of combined driving and anytime I can help someone with a question, I am happy to do so. Our sport will only grow through education and I want to be part of that process.”

The first annual WHINNY awards and the 3rd Annual Women in the Horse Industry Conference was a big success. The events were held October 6-8 in Nashville, Tennessee.
On Thursday night the red carpet was rolled out to identify and recognize people in the horse industry who are using their visibility to promote the welfare of the horse industry. Some of the WHINNY recipients who attended included Elizabeth Shatner (who not only received the award but picked up the one given to her husband Bill), country music superstar Lynn Anderson, Madeleine Pickens, Mike and Martha Borchetta, and Bonnie Garner. The event started off with live entertainment by some of country music’s most promising up and coming stars, including Keith Bryant, Dee Ann Dominy, Mark Wayne Glasmire, and Cassidy Lynn.
In addition to the live entertainment, there was both a silent and live auction benefiting several equine charities. Lynn Anderson served as the auctioneer and helped sell some wonderful items such as a signed guitar from the movie Country Strong by Gwyneth Paltrow and Tim McGraw and several paintings by Elizabeth Shatner. Some of the sponsors this year included Callaway Farms Manufacturing, National Equine Escrow, EasyMileLog, Equine Resources International, LLC, Tallgrass Animal Acupressure, and Energy Medicine, LLC.
Hi Everyone!
Whew… I have now recovered from the events and have put a wrap up and photos on our website. So, please take a few minutes and see what’s there and send your friends who are not members to it as well. We’d like to let everyone know how successful things were.
We had a couple of big items that were not sold at the auction and I am going to make a list of them and let our membership and people who visit our website bid on them. They should be up by the weekend. These are really great items and I hope we can sell them and make even more money for our charities. We had a small profit from the event on Friday night and our four charities are going to get close to $600.00 each. If we can sell the other items, that will help them get a little more and as we all know, every bit helps. Thanks to everyone who donated items for the auction and who bid on them. Thanks also to our sponsors, National Equine Escrow (a fabulous idea and company), Equine Resources International, LLC (one of the best in the industry; we are sending Lua some get well wishes since she’s been a little under the weather), EasyMileLog (a product that’s a must have!), Tallgrass Animal Acupressure (the authorities on animal acupressure), Callaway Farms (great bedding products and they bought the Country Strong guitar!), and Energy Medicine (she had jury duty and couldn’t attend but she was there with us in “spirit”).
