Emanuel Andrade (15) made his debut in the Open Jumper arena in the $25,000 A-T Children’s Benefit Grand Prix at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida at onset of 2012. The teen, who champions the children’s charity Step by Step Foundation (www.stepbystepfoundation.com), faced off against stiff competition from a field of top international riders, including Olympic veterans and Debbie Stephens, Pablo Barrios and Step By Step Advisory Board member Margie Engle. Andrade rode two horses, Oxford and La Fe Florli, in the class. After the 45 rounds had been completed, Andrade took the 11th place with La Fe Florli and the class was won by Catherine Pasmore aboard Van David. The second place ribbon went to veteran Andrew Bournes and third place went to iconic Olympic rider Rodrigo Pessoa. The formidable young equestrian took the Championship in the Junior Jumpers Low division riding P.S. I Love You and placed second in the Junior Jumper Highs on Luky Des Roquelines the same week. PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL – December 12, 2011 – Daniela Stransky made her European show jumping debut at the 3rd annual Gucci Masters, which ran from December 2 to 4, 2011 in Paris, France. The 15 year old was the youngest rider at the prestigious international horse show and the only competitor representing Venezuela. Cheered on by her mother Liliane Stransky, the founder of the international charity Step by Step Foundation (www.stepbystepfoundation.com) and owner of Stransky’s Mission Farm in Wellington, Florida, and her trainer Hector Florentino of the Dominican Republic, Daniela piloted her mare Starlight to two fault free and speedy rounds. Just out of the ribbons, the tenacious teen vowed to return next year with her friend and fellow Venezuelan rider Emanuel Andrade (15).  Daniela Stransky and Ikarus Florida Teen Wins Best Individual Junior Rider during Final Leg of Competition in Ecuador Daniela Stransky, the 15 year old equestrian from Stransky’s Mission Farm who champions the children’s charity Step by Step Foundation, piloted her gelding Ikarus to the Junior Jumper Best Individual Rider Medal during the final weekend of the 2011 FEI Americas Jumping Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador from July 26 to 31, 2011. More than 85 top young show jumping riders, ages 12 to 21, came from over a dozen countries including Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Canada and the United States to compete at the prestigious international competition hosted by the Ecuador Equestrian Federation from July 26 to 31, 2011. Representing her native Venezuela for the first time, Stransky competed over double courses designed by Mrs. Marina Acevedo of Brazil on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The Miami Dade County High School student took top honors aboard her big gray Warm Blood and was the only rider from her country to compete in the high Junior division. The program will start by assisting the Miami Dade County and Palm Beach communities, with the ambitious goal of expanding to serve other communities in the U.S and around the world. Following the final event, a cash prize of $45,000 will be awarded to the rider accumulating the most points throughout the series. The top riders from across the nation gathered to compete over a challenging course during the lead off event on Thursday night’s $30,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, CSI 2*. At the end of the two round competition, it was Hector Florentino aboard Stransky Mission Farm’s Ultimo in the winner’s circle. Florentino, the head trainer and rider at Stransky Mission Farm in Wellington, Florida, now leads in the standings. After Richard Spooner rode to victory in the $25,000 Suncast Jumper Classic, the action shifted to the tents for some fast paced, high stakes gaming in the Grand Prix Pavilion at the Winter Equestrian Festival. Engle, who was the Event Chair, was on hand with Stransky to welcome guests to the fun filled evening that featured fine food and good times for a great cause. Guests enjoyed a lovely buffet dinner as DJ Mario kept the music pumping, but it was the poker action that drew in the serious players and international teams. Stransky had assembled a strong lineup of lovely ladies on her team including Engle, event organizer Kathy Andersen, Junior Jumper champion Daniela Stransky, and grand prix veteran Hillary Dobbs. Former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs’s daughter Hillary showed her wining style at the 2010 Washington International Horse Show in DC the last week. The 22 year old, who lives between Palm Beach, FL and Sussex, NJ, competed as “The Flash” aboard Marengo placing in second during always colorful and exciting $20,000 Gambler’s Choice Costume Class. Rodrigo Pessoa won the class, decked out in an authentic Formula One racing outfit, complete with helmet. Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina (also of Palm Beach and NYC) placed 6th, in a full nun’s habit. The 3rd place ribbon in the costume class went to Shane Sweetnam, who partnered with Dobbs to win Saturday night’s $15,000 Open Jumper Pair Relay.

ATLANTA, GA – October 29, 2010 — Despite riding with a torn ACL and meniscus and year-long effort to earn a place to compete at the 52nd annual Washington International Horse Show in DC, the payoff was big for Sarah Ward of Atlanta, GA on Wednesday, October 27, 2010. The 20 year old equestrian, who trains with Jack Towell and Liza Boyd of Finally Farm in SC, piloted her gelding Onassis to the victory in the $2,000 Amateur Owner Handy Hunter Stake (35 and under) putting in a flawless round against 23 other top riders; the pair also placed 7th in the 3,000 A/O Hunter Stakes during the competition. The University of South Carolina sophomore will now have surgery on her right knee to be performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Xerogeanes, head of the Emory Sports Medicine Center in Atlanta, GA. A/O Rider Sarah Ward Competes Despite Torn ACL & Severe Knee Injury in Open Jumpers and Year End Hunter Finals This Week October 22, 2010 — Sarah Ward of Atlanta, GA was enjoying a game of flag football with 14 classmates back at the University of South Carolina classmates (and members of the Gamecocks Equestrian Team including Kelsey Stangebye) when she switched directions really fast while running. She heard a snap, and as she hit the ground felt pain in her right knee. She finished the game, but the team lost terribly. No wonder; after a trip to the Emergency Room the next morning, the 20 year old sophomore learned she’d torn her ACL and Meniscus, and was going to need surgery. But the injury couldn’t stop the young equestrian from riding to win, or at least trying to win! The week after her accident, Sarah walked the Open Jumper Classic course at the Aiken Fall Festival II (Sept. 16 to 20), with the help of crutches, in Aiken, SC. This was only the second time that Sarah had competed at this level, and she did it with a severe handicap. “The show managers kept saying, ‘The course isn’t finished yet,’ as I hobbled out on the field,” remembered Sarah, who has been getting by on Aleve and anti-inflammatory medications prescribed her orthopedic surgeon Dr. John Xerogeanes. “I said, ‘By the time I get to the other side of the ring it will be.’” Before entering the arena against 30 other top competitors, Sarah put aside her crutches and removed her knee brace and successfully piloted her jumper Ludwig Storgaard to the 6th place ribbon. She also competed on both of her Amateur Owner Hunters Isaac and Onassis, winning four classes and receiving the Championship ribbon for their efforts. |
