All is looking well for the Jacksonville Winter Series this year. We are not in snow and ice and we have a few stalls available for weeks one and three and for the most part, we are sold out for week two. I want to thank everyone for sending in thier entries this year that helped a great deal with our planning.
We do have a new schedule for week one. I have published it on this link.

Lexington, KY – August 4, 2010 – The USEF Junior Hunter Finals-East Coast came to a close this evening following the completion the very competitive 2010 USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic. Seventy-five riders showed over the first-round course, vying for the for the coveted equitation title. The riders with the top 15 scores returned for the handy round and then the top six returned to the ring aboard different mounts to complete the final test. Catherine Tyree rose through the ranks with consistently high scores in each round and after completing a stunning final test she was awarded the top prize. Hayley Barnhill followed by just a quarter of a point with the second place award, while Chase Boggio took home the third place honors.
“For the final test I just went forward and found my jumps,” explained Tyree after her win. “I didn’t put pressure on myself. I was in the top 6 so for me it didn’t really matter where I ended up after the final round.”
The strong field of competitors will include rider Kelley Farmer.
Bristol, WI – July 9, 2010 – The first ever Tapestry Farm Derby Day promises a day of hospitality and exciting competition at Tapestry Farm in Bristol, Wisconsin. On July 11th, the 120 acre facility one hour north of Chicago will host a $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, a $5,000 USHJA 3′ Derby, and a $10,000 Junior/Amateur Owner Speed Derby. A strong field of competitors is expected including Pony Lane Farm’s Bella Blue, shown by Maggie Jayne, and Nancy Amling’s Taken, shown by Kelley Farmer. All classes will utilize the farm’s outside course on grass with its natural obstacles and featuring a beautiful, brand new bank. Spectators will have the opportunity to provide support for the worthy USHJAF’s Horseman’s Assistance Fund and at the same time enjoy the highest level of hospitality by buying a ringside table. Held in conduction with the Showplace Summertime Horse Show at Ledges, Derby Day will provide the finale to a great horse show, providing a field trip for participants and offering all a “day in the country”.
Derby Day was first envisioned by Tapestry Farm’s owner Donna Struve. Watching the growing popularity of the hunter derby format, she pictured her farm as the perfect venue to host a showcase event, giving Midwest riders the opportunity to compete close to home in an international caliber event while hosting a summer outing and raising money for charity.
“Now is the right time,” commented Geoff Teall, a note of enthusiasm in his voice at the prospect of having the strength and programs of the American Hunter-Jumper Foundation (AHJF) now go to supporting the similar goals of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) and its Foundation.
Since its inception in 1992, the AHJF has established itself by creating a new vision for the sport of hunters in the United States. Now after five years of growth, the USHJA has not only established these same goals but has the resources, staffing and vision to take them even further.
NFHJA (North Florida Hunter Jumper Association) and FCHJA (First Coast Hunter JumperAssociation) will be again sharing a horse show weekend in May.
