Lausanne, 6 April 2010 – The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rendered its final decision in the arbitration concerning the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) and the FEI.
CAS has allowed the appeal of the BEF and has annulled the decision of the FEI Tribunal of 21 January 2010. This means that the British team will be allowed to take part in the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup.

The Virginia Polo Center hosts 88th annual Championships
April 5, 2010 (Charlottesville, VA) – the Virginia Polo Center in Charlottesville, VA will host the 88th annual USPA National Intercollegiate Championships from April 5 – 10, 2010. Regional and national intercollegiate polo competition is organized by the United States Polo Association (USPA) and tournaments are held throughout the country during the school year. Teams scheduled to compete include California Polytechnic State University, Cornell University, Colorado State University, University of Idaho, University of Kentucky, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, University of Virginia, and Washington State University.
Last year’s Championship series was dominated by UVA winning both the Men’s and the Women’s competitions. This year former professional player Miguel Torres, now a student at Texas A&M is expected to be a major contender. The Virginia Polo Center strives to instill in every student the merits of responsibility, hard work and dedication. Through the years, over 500 students have shared the responsibility for the management, athletic success and national reputation of the organization. In return, students have the opportunity to compete nationally at the highest levels.
The USPA enlists the services of the United States Equestrian Federation to enact new equine welfare regulations
April 5, 2010 (Wellington, FL) – In an effort to implement a pilot program for equine drugs and medications testing for its sanctioned events, the United States Polo Association (USPA) has engaged the services of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Equine Drugs and Medications Program. This new pilot program was approved by the USPA Board of Governors in October 2009 and has been implemented in time for the annual 2010 polo season that includes the annual USPA U.S. Open Polo Championship. The Championship takes place at the International Polo Club in West Palm Beach, Florida from March 29 – April 18, 2010.
At their annual meeting in October 2009, the USPA Board of Governors unanimously approved a by-law change that requires individual members of the USPA to submit his or her horses for random blood and/or urine testing. The Association has also amended by-laws to include disciplinary action against any member convicted of a civil animal-abuse violation.
