March 22, 2010 – Racing to the Ring is proud to present the Inaugural High Achievement Championship Award to “Current Man”, a 16 year old, bay TB gelding who is owned and shown by Cathy Bailey, D.V.M of Morristown, Fl.
Over the years “Current Man” (show name “Rapid Fire”) has won 33 Grand Championships, 19 Reserve Championships and 11 Year End awards. He placed first in 97 classes. His racing career ended with a bowed tendon injury and through rehabilitation and hard work Cathy gave him a new life and created a true Champion.
This presentation will take place on Sunday April 25th, 2010 in the Winners Circle at Tampa Bay Downs Racetrack in Oldsmar, Fl. Presenting the award will be Loraine Roe who founded Racing to the Ring in 2009. This program was designed to make it fashionable to own and show Thoroughbreds and to bring recognition to them for their second careers.
To be considered for this award, riders need to submit an essay describing how they took their Thoroughbred off the track and turned him into a successful show horse. The essay, show record and photos should be sent to Loraine Roe at ontracklr@aol.com.
This will become an annual award at Tampa Bay Downs and in the future at Racetracks throughout the country.
