Step by Step Wins $150k for Haiti, $25k for Boys & Girls Club of Wellington

StepByStepMarch 23, 2010 – Wellington, FL — It was an evening of competition where everyone came out a winner, especially the international children’s charity The Step by Step Foundation (www.stepbystepfoundation.com).  The three member SBS team was giving it their all on the international field at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Festival to win funds to go to Haitian relief.

Amateur and junior riders had the thrill of a lifetime when they were able to compete side by side with Olympic champions and international show jumping icons during the first ever Great Charity Challenge on Saturday, March 20, 2010 during the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival.

Heading the riding squad for the international charity the Step by Step Foundation was long time SBS supporter, U.S. Olympian Margie Engle, who had championed the children’s organization earlier in the year when she joined founder Liliane Stransky to host the All In for Charity Poker Tournament and Benefit following the devastating earthquake in Haiti.  The one night of gaming, auctions and fun raised over $100,000 in funds went to help the devastated country of Haiti.  She added another worth while win, both for her resume and for children in need, when she and her fellow riders walked out of the grand prix arena with a $150,000 check that will be donated to the Step by Step Foundation.

FEI TV – Watch the Freestyle to Music/Kur which brings the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup Dressage series to a close LIVE ON FEI TV next Saturday starting at 13.55 local time.

A Perfect Start to the Final for Adelinde And Parzival

s’Hertogenbosch (Ned), 25 March 2010 – Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival made the perfect start to the 2009/2010 FEI World Cup Dressage final at the Brabanthallen in s’Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands tonight when winning the Grand Prix by a convincing margin of more than two percent.  On a tense evening when nerves were jangling, she held her big strong gelding together to produce a powerful test that left her with a clear advantage over the firm favourites to take the title – Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas. And the Dutch totally dominated the line-up in this preliminary competition when Imke Schellekens-Bartels and her lovely mare Hunter Douglas Sunrise claimed third place.  It looks like a Dutch are destined to win next Saturday’s final test, the Freestyle to Music, but whether Cornelissen and Parzival can rise to the occasion again as they did tonight or whether Gal and the record-breaking Totilas can re-find their true form and outdo all the rest remains to be seen.  If tonight’s result is anything to go by then Saturday’s finale is going to be a very close-fought affair.
