Wellington, FL (March 23, 2010) – Tami Hoag consistently entertains fans with her spine-tingling mystery novels, and during the finale of the 2010 Top Shelf Dressage Under the Stars competition Hoag proved that she can also thrill the crowd and the judges while in the dressage ring. Hoag, a New York Times bestselling author and professional dressage rider, rode away the winner of the much-anticipated Dressage under the Stars finale held at the Players Club & Restaurant in Wellington, featuring over $10,000 in prizes.
Hoag rode Feliki, her 23-year-old Grand Prix mare, to the victory, riding away with armfuls of prizes from generous sponsors, as well as a $2,500 check from the Players Club and a brand new dressage saddle from Custom Saddlery, valued at $3,600. “Feliki gave us a great performance and she certainly doesn’t act her age,” said Neil Hirsch, owner of the Players Club. Feliki was decked out in sparkles from head to toe. Her coat and her hooves were sparkly and she topped off her look with a gold curb rein.
Hoag was ecstatic about the win. “It was awesome; I was so proud of Feliki”, exclaimed Hoag. “And the prizes were impressive. We just don’t have many dressage competitions that offer this level of prizes and it was so much fun,” added Hoag. Hoag braved coming out to compete as she was just recuperating from a flu. In addition, the weather had been cool and rainy in the afternoon, but Hoag wanted to compete. By 5 PM the night of the Finale the arena footing was perfect and Hoag said “game on”. It was a gamble that paid off handsomely for Hoag and Feliki put on show that will not soon be forgotten.

Bronson Urges Horse Owners to Vaccinate Animals for Mosquito-Borne Diseases; Recommends That Humans Take Steps to Protect Themselves
TALLAHASSEE — With the arrival of spring and warmer weather, Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Charles H. Bronson today reminded horse owners to get their animals vaccinated for mosquito borne diseases.
The two principal equine diseases associated with mosquitoes are Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus (WNV), and the majority of cases of each can be prevented with proper vaccinations, according to animal health officials.
“The key is to make sure that a horse has been vaccinated against these mosquito-borne diseases and to check with your veterinarian to determine whether an animal’s booster shots are up to date,” Bronson said.

Horses think in pictures. Jane says that all super-achievers have developed the ability to clearly see what they want, in great detail, before they actually achieve it.
I found learning the tempi changes very difficult. But Jane pictured what she wanted very clearly, and then I pictured what she wanted me to do very clearly, and we got it! Now I can do lots of tempi changes without making a mistake!
What are you working on today? Picture the perfect result over and over in your mind, before you go to the barn, and again before you get on your horse. Fill in all the details. Involve all five or your senses. Then add emotion to your “mental movies”.

Ocala, FL – March 23, 2010 – Callan Solem was named the winner of the Catena Leading Grand Prix Rider award after accumulating 80 points with Quiet Winter Farm and BJ Maghan’s top mount Allison during the 2010 HITS Ocala Winter Circuit. During the awards presentation at the $100,000 Deluca Toyota Tundra Grand Prix, Allison was also presented with the Leading Mare Award for her remarkable efforts throughout the last eight weeks. On April 1st, Solem will be opening Callan Solem Show Stables with the support of Virginia and Collin McNeil in Chester Springs, PA.
“I have been competing at HITS Ocala for a number of years, but I have never won this award before and I am very proud of the accomplishment,” commented Solem. “Tracy Fenney, Tracy Magness, and I were all very close in the points at the end, and we are also good friends. The other week we were talking about how much we teach each other and push each other. I do not think that I would have gone as fast as I did in some of the jump off rounds if those two excellent riders were not behind me. I think it’s good competition, and we push each other to do better.”
