Wellington, FL – March 19, 2010 – Seven top equestrians will go head to head in the exciting $25,000 Puissance class scheduled for the Stadium at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center on Friday night.
With the huge throng expected to attend the Akon concert that follows the Puissance, organizers feel that this could be one of the largest crowds to ever witness this exciting show jumping event.
The stage is already constructed at the Stadium in what is promised to be a gorgeous setting for the top show jumping action and the fabulous music scheduled for tomorrow night as part of this dynamic dual performance event.
I wanted to give you an update. THE MARES ARE PAID FOR AND SAFE. THEY ARE OFFICIALLY OWNED BY PURE THOUGHTS INC. PAID FOR IN FULL WITH CC. In addition, there is an 8 year old gelding that is safe as well. He is a TB and they had trouble reading his tattoo – not his fault, not his fault he ended up where he did as well, so we purchased him too. It would have haunted me.
The bad news – the price we paid was outrageous; we were shocked. We paid $2600 for both mares and $850 for the gelding. These are by no means auction prices, they are extremely high but we had no choice, we had no option. The price started at $3000 for the two mares but Brad was able to negotiate it down. I will post the bill of sale and cc receipt when I receive them. This is what happens and your only choice is to pay it or pray for a miracle and since our prayers were answered and we had raised the funds to pay it, we did.
Is this what we would consider OK to pay? Not a chance and is the exact reason why we have the Thoroughbred program for the FL Thoroughbred so we do not have to chase them all over the country and then pay whatever is asked.
Conyers, GA — March 18, 2010 — The 2010 Atlanta Spring Classics are less than a week away, but for competitors who are still undecided where to head as winter season wraps up the Georgia International Horse Park can be a perfect solution.
Classic Company’s president Bob Bell announced there are still some stalls available for the Spring Classics. “I’ve been surprised by the calls just this week asking if we might have room. Several said they just didn’t know where they wanted to spend spring and had procrastinated this year. We still have some room so I’ve been saying come on up the weather’s great!” Bell chuckled.
Held at the Georgia International Horse Park, home of the 1996 Olympics, in Conyers, GA, the facility has 700 permanent stalls and boasts some of the best ring footing in the country. This year’s two-week event runs March 24th through April 3rd with classes running Wednesday through Sunday on Week One and a special Easter schedule of Tuesday through Saturday for Week Two. “We’ve reworked the scheduling of events to accommodate both exhibitors who show on the weekend only and those wishing to enjoy Easter with their families,” Bell explained. Among some of the schedule changes is the use of Wednesday solely for Hunter Pony Breeding Classes with regular hunter-jumper classes beginning on Thursday. For Atlanta Spring’s second week Tuesday will be the Hunter Pony Breeding day while Wednesday through Saturday will host the hunter-jumper performances.

Wellington, FL (March 18, 2010) – Each week at the Top Shelf Dressage under the Stars competition at the Player’s Club & Restaurant the dressage community is treated to world-class riders, judges and entertainment, including a recent demonstration by the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. Esmeralda and Kuchi, two Gypsy Vanners owned by Bill and Wendy Ricci of WR Ranch in Oxford, Florida, wowed the crowd with their beauty, color and grace.
Esmeralda, who was born in England, was one of the first Gypsy Vanners imported to the United States. Esmeralda has a long list of accomplishments to her name, including being named the Number One Tandem Driving team in 2001 with her partner Jasmine. Esmeralda and Jasmine continued their winning ways last month, winning the Pair Championship at the Florida Carriage Festival.
Esmeralda, the current centerfold in the March 2010 issue of Horse Illustrated, was driven at Dressage under the Stars by owner Bill Ricci, the current President of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. Heather Caudill, of Olympus Sport Horse, rode Kuchi, the first Gypsy Vanner born in America. Kuchi’s sire, The Gypsy King, was immortalized as the first Gypsy Vanner Horse Breyer model. Last year Kuchi, who currently competes at second level in dressage, followed in her sire’s hoof steps to become Breyer’s second Gypsy Vanner Horse model.
