Lexington, KY – February 23, 2010 – Kentucky Spring Horse Shows’ management company, Kentucky Horse Shows LLC, is pleased to announce that the hunter/jumper competition’s prize list is currently available online. The prize list and entry blank are posted on the internet at www.kentuckyhorseshows.com. Entries for the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows close on March 30, 2010.
The Kentucky Spring Horse Show will mark the first week of competition, from May 12-16, 2010, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The first week is scheduled as a World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) recognized hunter competition. An important change to the hunter schedule this year is that all the Junior and Children’s Hunter classes will be held on Saturday and Sunday so as not to interfere with school. Hunter exhibitors will be pleased to find that the OTTO Sport footing system has been installed in the Murphy Ring to match the surfaces in the Stonelea Ring and main hunter schooling area.
The top hunter riders from across the country will gather to compete during the $15,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby Presented by Dietrich Insurance. This annual event will be held Saturday, May 15, in the Main Stadium. Each year the derby includes jumps reminiscent of the hunt field, such as a natural post and rail, a stonewall, a coop, an aiken, hedges, logs, banks, and ditches.
The American Quarter Horse Journal, February 24, 2010 – Oklahoma City will host the 2010 Youth World Cup July 3-11, and the American Quarter Horse Association is calling on volunteers – two-legged and four-legged – to make the event a success.
What began as a competition between Australian and U.S. youths more than two decades ago has evolved to include kids from a number of countries – 17 countries are expected for the 2010 Youth World Cup.
Each Youth World Cup team consists of five American Quarter Horse Youth Association members plus a coach. The youth take part in eight days of educational seminars, riding and showmanship clinics, leadership training and competition. Alternate members of the teams attend the educational and leadership seminars. Each team draws a pool of six volunteered horses to use throughout the two-day competition. Each horse is ridden at least once in each class. Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=10364

Wellington, FL (February 25, 2010) – Trainer Christopher Payne and Gracious proved three times a charm at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, winning the Baby Green Hunter Championship for the third time during the winter show circuit. Draper Equine Therapy, makers of therapeutic products for horses and riders, sponsors the Baby Green Division.
Payne and Gracious, who is owned by Maggie Little, are dominating the Baby Green Hunter Division and Payne couldn’t be more pleased with the four-year-old Dutch gelding. “We bred him ourselves and he is a fantastic young horse,” said Payne, who along with David Belford owns New Hope in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Payne was awarded with a Draper Therapeutic Nap Blanket for his win, and was very pleased to be in the winner’s circle yet again. “A huge round of congratulations is due to Gracious and Christopher. So much preparation goes into getting horses to the show ring, but to make it to the winner’s circle this many times at the start of their career, is pretty amazing.” said Kat Wojtylak, Product Manager of Draper Equine Therapy. “We just hope that the pair continues to thrive through the rest of circuit and hope that Draper can be a part of that journey after all the prizes they continue to mount up.”
