West Palm Beach, FL (January 28, 2010)  – International dressage rider Dr. Cesar Parra and his Rheinlander gelding Furst Fabio proved that disco isn’t dead when they danced their way to the win in the FEI Intermediaire I Freestyle at the Gold Coast Dressage Opener. Parra and Furst Fabio showed off their moves to the disco classic “Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire, and not only secured the win but had the audience dancing along to the beat.

“I used this music with Olympia when we competed at Devon, but the music was composed for Fabio and this was the first time he was able to compete to it,” Parra said. “It was an emotional experience for me and a very exciting ride.”

Parra said the Gold Coast show was the first time that Fabio competed at the Intermediaire I level. “I love this horse,” Parra said. “I rode him conservatively the first day and then during the freestyle I decided to push the gas pedal a little more. It was good to win in good company, especially when you have such top horses in the class. I really believe this win is nothing but a testimony to teamwork.” Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=10010

Jones Set for Another Big Day in Florida

The American Quarter Horse Racing Journal, January 28, 2010 – Eight-time defending national champion trainer Paul Jones is outfitted with the horses to sweep the $100,000 South Florida Derby and the $20,000 Sunshine State Stakes on Sunday afternoon at Hialeah Park.

In the 440-yard Derby, Jones is represented by fastest-qualifier Mr Brimmerton and El Niño Handicap winner Shakem Blue.

In the 220-yard Sunshine State Stakes, Jones is sending out the very quick One Tough Dude, the Ruidoso Downs 300-yard track record holder.

Gabriela Baltierrez’s Mr Brimmerton (Brimmerton-Zip N Streak by Barrett’s Bullet (TB)) rebounded from a horrid trip in the $163,000 Hialeah Laddie Futurity to set the fastest-qualifying time to the South Florida Derby. In his trial, he raced near the lead and then drew out to the three-quarter-length win in :21.843 for the quarter mile. International Grand Prix rider Yvonne Losos de Muniz and Optimus Prime won the Grand Prix Special, sponsored by Classic Equine Equipment, at the Gold Coast Dressage Opener at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center.

West Palm Beach, FL (January 27, 2010) – International Grand Prix rider Yvonne Losos de Muniz’s first experience in the ring with her new Austrian Grand Prix partner turned out to be a winning one, as Losos de Muniz and the 16-year-old Optimus Prime won the Grand Prix Special at the Gold Coast Dressage Opener. Losos de Muniz’s win earned her a beautiful polar fleece vest from Classic Equine Equipment, a nationally recognized leader in quality horse stall systems and stable accessories, and the sponsor of the class.

“I just bought Optimus Prime about a month ago and we are still figuring each other out in the ring, but he is a lovely horse,” Losos de Muniz said. “During the class I didn’t go for the impulsion or anything fancy. I went for a nice steady test and he gave me exactly what I asked for so I was super happy.”

The Dominican Republic rider has a long list of accomplishments to her name, including earning Bronze Individual medals in the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games. Losos de Muniz is in South Florida for the winter show season and said she was very appreciative that Classic Equine sponsored her class. “It was a great first trip into the show ring for Yvonne and Optimus Prime and we were quite happy to see her wearing our Classic Equine vest after she won the class,” said Adam Busse, owner of the award-winning stall systems and stable accessories company. “We are really enjoying sponsoring classes during the winter show circuit. It is a pleasure to meet so many talented riders.” Read more> http://www.horsesinthesouth.com/article/article_detail.aspx?id=10000
