News:The USEF announced this week that Anne Gribbons has entered into a contract with them to serve as the Dressage Technical Advisor through 2012. The Technical Advisor role will include the coordination of all aspects of the USEF Dressage High Performance Coaching Program which Anne will oversee including the training and preparation for WEG, Pan American Games and Olympic competitions.

Using correct form is extremely important to communication with your horse.
December 8, 2009 – The importance of correct form and how it relates to communication with your horse cannot be emphasized enough. If your horse is not performing up to expectations, the first question you ask should be, “How is my position?” Correct something in your position and see if that improves your horse’s performance. If it doesn’t, then slightly change something in your communication and see if that works.
The Seat
Your seat is the foundation of your position and your main source of balance. It is also used as a communication aid to increase or decrease speed within a gait or during a change in gaits. These changes are called transitions.
How does your seat work to control speed? When you are in correct position and your seat is the main source of your balance, your pelvis should be slightly tilted forward. As the horse moves, your pelvis moves backward and forward, following the horse’s motion. This is very obvious at the walk and canter. At the trot, it may feel more like an up and down motion, but the pelvis still moves backward and forward but in a quicker motion with the two-beat gait. GUCCI MASTERS, 2nd November 2009 – The world’s greatest show-jumpers will be back in Paris this year for the Gucci Masters. This “5 star” competition, organised as part of the Paris Horse Show, is an indoor season event that is not to be missed. The Gucci Masters consists of 23 trials over four days and will host the Top 10 Rolex IJRC Finals for the first time in Paris, on Friday 11th December. The Gucci “Grand Prix” will be the climax of the event on Sunday 13th December.
Twenty-five of the world’s top thirty are expected at this Parisian competition organised by the Belgian Christophe Ameeuw and the Brazilian legend Nelson Pessoa. His son Rodrigo Pessoa, the French born Olympic Champion in 2004, will serve as the Gucci Masters sports director. He will also be taking part in the event as he continues to be one of the circuit’s most successful riders. Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, the outstanding horsewoman from Bordeaux and French Champion in 2005, will serve as the ambassadress of the competition. A descendant of a family steeped in equestrian tradition, Virginie Couperie-Eiffel will be a prominent presence for all riding enthusiasts.
For four days the title-holders of the main international titles will show their skills, including the Canadian Eric Lamaze, Olympic Champion, the Belgian Jos Lansink, World Champion, the German Marcus Ehning, N° 1 worldwide and the Frenchman Kevin Staut, European Champion.
