Wellington, FL (November 17, 2009) - Choice of Champions International, a company that specializes in producing supplements designed to aid sport horses, has joined Combined Driver Chester Weber’s Four-In-Hand team as a sponsor. Weber, whose name has become synonymous with Four-in-Hand driving throughout the world, achieved a record-setting win in October, becoming the first driver to win the USEF National Four-In-Hand Driving Championships seven consecutive years in a row.

Weber and his high-profile horses, known as Team Weber, now have their sights set on competing in the 2010 World Equestrian Games. “We are pleased that Choice of Champions has joined us on our journey to WEG,” Weber said. “We have been using Choice of Champions supplements with great success, and since success is our goal it is a great partnership.”

During their quest for the national title, two of Weber’s horses used True Sweat from Choice of Champions with great results. “This is a sweat product that really works, even through the hot Florida summers,” Weber said.

Allyn Maix, President of Choice of Champions, said Weber’s results aren’t unusual. “During training, a horse’s temperature can increase to 104 degrees or more and if it can’t sweat properly, a condition known as anhydrosis, its performance will be lacking. True Sweat helps to manage this condition by helping the horse produce the neurotransmitters Dopamine, Norepinephrine, and Epinephrine, and thereby helping the horse sweat,” Maix said.

Team Weber also used Choice of Champion’s Ulser Shield throughout the summer and during their record-setting national championship. Ulser Shield is a supplement that promotes the horse’s digestion and nutrient absorption. Ulser Shield is an acid suppressant, mucosal protective and top dressing for horses prone to ulcers.

“High performance horses such as Chester’s produce a lot of acid when they are working, acid that can cause stomach ulcers,” Maix said. “Horses that have known stomach ulcers should go on a course of Omeprazole for treatment, but can be maintained with Ulser Shield. Ulser Shield, used in a daily feeding program, can prevent severe cases of ulcers that would require Omeprazole. Ulser Shield is a much cheaper way to maintain a horse than using Omeprazole.”

Weber also uses Choice of Champion’s Lung Aid on his horses with respiratory problems, and has been pleased with the results. Lung Aid is a comprehensive conditioner for the lungs that promotes equine respiratory health. Lung Aid contains vitamins and antioxidants designed to help horses fight off infections, increase endurance, increase lung capacity, and boost the immune system. “It also helps competitive horses recover faster from intensive training and competing,” Maix said, adding that being part of Team Weber and watching Weber’s competitive edge is inspirational.

Thanks to his seventh national victory, Weber is currently ranked No. 1 on the USEF’s Four-In-Hand Selectors’ Ranking List for WEG. Weber’s recent success comes on the heels of a very successful 2008 summer campaign in Europe which earned him an Individual Silver Medal in the Four-in-Hand World Driving Championships in Beesd, The Netherlands – making him the first American to ever win an Individual Medal at the World Driving Championships. Weber was also named a 2008 USEF Equestrian of Honor and his horse, Jamaica, took home top honors as the 2008 Farnam Platform/USEF Horse of the Year. “Chester really is the best at what he does and we are pleased to partner with him,” Maix said.

Choice of Champions International, co-owned by Maix and Sylvia Firestone, is based in Wellington, Florida, and produces a full line of supplements designed to fit the needs of a variety of horses that compete in many different disciplines.
