Kacey McCann Produces Outstanding Results at Jacksonville Finale Horse Show
Green Cove Springs, FL – February 15, 2007 – At last week’s Jacksonville Finale Horse Show, 16-year-old Kacey McCann of Palmyra, PA, catch-rode three horses for trainer Don Stewart, Jr. to fantastic results, which included three tricolor ribbons.
McCann’s best results came with Mosquito Mound’s Thunder, who is owned by Angenita Grande. They won three classes in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters on their way to the championship in the division. McCann was reserve champion in the division on Chloe Z, owned by Caroline Weingart. Chloe Z picked up four second place ribbons.
McCann was also the reserve champion in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters on Mustique, owned by Darby Hill Farm and Don Stewart Jr. Mustique won a class and was third in the remaining classes.
The talented young rider made the switch to the equitation classes, but stayed on one of her hunter mounts. She and Mosquito Mound’s Thunder were fourth in the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) jumper phase and third in the hunter phase. These consistent rounds gave her the overall win in the WIHS Equitation Classic.
One of the most special classes of the week was the $5,000 Equitation Classic, a rare opportunity for equitation riders to compete for a large amount of prize money. McCann and Mosquito Mound’s Thunder finished second in the big event.
McCann will join SBS Farms trainers Susan Schoellkopf and Jennifer Alfano to compete next at the first week of the HITS Ocala Winter Circuit on February 14-18, 2007.
